“Every Child Deserves to Play Baseball”
Dear Friends,
For over 13 years, The Miracle League of Palm Beach County has been working to enrich and expand lives by providing the opportunity for all children to play baseball, regardless of their ability. Creating a safe and inclusive place for individuals with physical and mental disabilities to participate in a team sport, The Miracle League of Palm Beach County helps to inspire while developing crucial life skills. While baseball is the primary vehicle used to encourage kindness, compassion, and generosity in the community, our league allows participants to mutually teach, guide, and motivate each other in a multitude of ways.
We are in full swing planning The Miracle League of Palm Beach County’s 3rd Annual "Dinner on the Diamond” fundraiser. This year’s "Resurface for a Purpose” event promises to be the best yet. Our honorary chairs, Mr. Jack Maloney & Dr. Jacqui Moroco Maloney, will lead us in a fun-filled evening at our "Field of Dreams" located at Miller Park, Delray Beach on December 1, 2018 at 6:00 pm.
A Proven History! In the past few years, we have set goals to improve our fields. First, we set out to have lights installed so that we could host an adult league; many of our players have aged out of our Saturday league and due to work and school commitments. Once the lights were installed, we built a brand new, barrier-free playground adjacent to our field. This playground now allows ALL children, regardless of physical or mental ability, to play together.
Making it Happen! This year, we are setting out to “Resurface for a Purpose.” The synthetic turf is showing its age and is in desperate need of replacement. After 12 years of use in the South Florida sun, the current turf is cracked, ripped, and pulled up in many places. We are in desperate need to provide a safe rubber field for our kids.
Dreaming Big! In addition to resurfacing our field, we are also hoping to raise enough funds for a video scoreboard. Imagine the smiles on the kids’ faces when their giant headshot, statistics, and walk-up song play through this state-of-the-art scoreboard. Just like their major league heroes, our players will truly get the authentic baseball experience.
